Bache-Gabrielsen Classic

This a classic range of cognacs that has been created in the traditional manner.  It involves a combination of the soil, grapes, storage in oak casks, time and the cellar master all showing what they can achieve.

Bache-Gabrielsen 3 Kors Fine Cognac

3 Kors is a young cognac blended from Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois cognac.  It is stored in casks for around 4 years and has a deep amber colour.  A lively, youthful aroma with a fruity nose and a slight edge of young Grande Champagne that is full of character.  Round, mellow palate with a relatively light, fruity finish.  Bache-Gabrielsen cognac has been available on the market for 100 years, and the first bottle was sold by the trading house in Holmestrand for just NOK 3.  During prohibition it was available from pharmacies as a prescription medicine.  A definite and essential prescription winner if you’re suffering from Spanish flu!

Bache-Gabrielsen VSOP

This V.S.O.P is blended from Fins Bois and Petite Champagne cognac.  Stored for around 7 years.  Beautiful, sparkling, light brown.  Discrete, but well-balanced aroma with both fruity and floral tones.  A classic V.S.O.P. with a light, round, mellow mouth, but a long, lively aftertaste.

Bache-Gabrielsen XO Fine Champagne

A blend of selected distillates from Grande Champagne (72%) and Petite Champagne /28%). Dark, golden colour.  Elegantly composed bouquet of spices, dried fruit, flowers and a touch of citrus.  Distinctive and strong, but not heavy.  A fine concentration of tastes.  Round mouth with a long, elegant aftertaste, distinctly characterised by more than 20 years of storage.  We though that we had always had this cognac, but it was launched in 1996.  A clear winner!

Bache-Gabrielsen Hors D'age Grande Champagne

A pure Grande Champagne cognac.  The oldest components in the blend date back to 1917 and the youngest to 1960.  Dark, golden colour.  Rich, generous aroma.  What the French would call a real bouquet.  Fine balance between fruit, flowers and spicy tones from the storage casks.  The aroma from one glass can fill a whole room!  Round, strong palate, almost an oily consistency.  A distinctive and unmistakable hint of Grande Champagne with its renowned long aftertaste.  A cognac that takes 50 years to make - but it is worth waiting for.

Bache-Gabrielsens Pineau des Charentes Very Old

Pineau des Charentes was discovered several hundred years ago in the Charente region of France when a local wine producer accidentally poured grape must onto an oak cask containing cognac.  Several years later he took the cask out of his cellar and discovered to his great joy that it contained a pleasantly sweet, fruity drink.  Over the years this has become France’s most popular strong wine which is drunk with considerable joy by all its enthusiasts.  Pineau des Charentes is stored in casks for 20 years.  It is a sweet drink tasting of nuts, dried apricots and well stored cognac.  It should be served chilled as an aperitif, or as an accompaniment to blue cheese, pâtè de fois gras or dessert, or simply when you feel like something good.  Once opened it will keep in the fridge for several weeks.
